Linsey got sick and was bed ridden for a few days, thus it is getting delayed, though she is back at work we could still possible get it before the end of the week, but we shall see. Though i think all the GW2 makes up for it, but thats just me.

Read my earlier post about why releasing GW2 info when there's no GW1 new content is bad. It hurts the current playerbase, and could make them feel neglected (and I'd assume Anet wants them to buy GW2).
But, yes, Linsey's sick. However, the skill update is done by Robert now and from what I hear the TK has already tested the skills for weeks. Why not release it early to compensate for the lack of content?
I'll never understand Anet's PR. It just doesn't make sense.

Yup i don't understand, there is a real emergency in each form of PvP, we facing sins and hexes in all matchs. This makes so game so frustrating and boring and people left again and again...
Why did SW isn't already smiterboon'd ?
Why did they persists in the "over-buff" way, when pasts years showed it was a way to destroy the game ?

I understand that give us GW2 info and no GW1 content is bad, i to feel neglected but i also understand that sometimes you can't control things. It might have slightly hurt the current playerbase but not by much, most of them where doing the AFK rings or something else. Of course Anet wants them to buy GW2 and i bet that most of them will too.
Linsey sick=Bad for GW1......As for skill update i could care less about it because it seams never to bother me. But ya they could have realsed it early since they had to push back the War in Kryta stuff. Oh well crap happens.

Didnt they already say the skill update will be in the middle of may and/or when its done? I doubt the TK have finished it yet, and thats not a bad thing.
I dont mean so sound pessimistic, but its like most government conspiracies. Truth is that governments(software companies) just dont have the resources or compitence to do half the stuff we think they can do.
I was expecting War in Kryta content this week, but meh..
As for the GW2 previews being released, thats really nice. I cant get enough of them. And I cant wait to buy it when it comes out. But it has nothing to do with GW1 5th anniversary, being kinda weak. I think part of my dissapointment just comes from expecting it, and kept logging on to find out what was going on.
A watched pot never boils.
Im sure we will get something, just not when we wanted it. Welcome to the instant gratification generation.

It was weird reading and dissecting the GW2 information and then getting GW1 itch with no new content to scratch it with. I understand Lynsey was sick and she more than anyone probably wants the content to go live as soon as possible, I'm just wondering roughly when that will be. I was expecting it for the birthday like last year so I stuck around killing time in game, but now I'm beginning to think the War in Kryta won't resolve for months, when I was expecting to complete all the new content by the end of the birthday week. The pace seemed to be pretty constant and then it dropped off completely (two weeks now?).
I'm just wondering if I should hang around longer or get back to other things then see how it went in two months.

Oops, you're wrong. They've had all the skills tested and ready for like....2 weeks? Something like that.
Oh, and the update almost "accidentally" happened, with all the skill descriptions changed and everything. I still have no idea why this hasn't gone live.
Don't hear me suggesting that my GW experience is the norm, but 6 of my friends have quit and given up their accounts because of this stuff. I think it's mildly childish, but still...I can understand why they'd be frustrated over it. Too many other good games coming out before GW2....they just no longer thought it was worth waiting for.

Ah, but one can wait for GW2, and not play GW, can't one?
I am sure lots of oldtimers that haven't touched GW in some time will be back for GW2's open beta, or the game itself.
Of course there will also be people jaded at GW and Anet, and therefore leave GW and vow never to return, but that's really their loss.

GW is not a life choice. I see no reason why people should feel the need to play GW1 up to GW2's release. If your friends liked GW1 (and, ostensibly, if they've played long enough that they have nothing left to do, they have) then they'll probably be interested in GW2.

To answer the original question. I was disappointed with the lack of new content.
I know someone was seriously ill (hard to work from bed).
Anyway look forward to seeing the new stuff sometime in the near future.

The problem is that the update that got pushed back because of Lindsay illness was the War in Kryta and the skill update, there was no update about 5th year celebration that was pushed back by it, there just wasn't any. So thats why you might lack the information about it.

It would seem to me, this late in the game's life, they could make an easy change to the game and many people would take it as a huge gift, which would be the allowing full hero parties, should be an easy code switch, and with the game being less than a year left before gw2 (we all hope that is) shouldnt make the game any worse for people that want to pug as typically they are brutal to put together anyway. Most people, if they want to do something with humans, do it with their guild/alliance anyway.
This simple thing, would at least give the common folks a lil bone for the 5th anny =]

I think that the 'Big Update of the Year' goes around the 3th or 4th quarter.
The on in Spring one is the 'not so big update to keep a little hype'.
Zaishen Coins? HM? Even Sorro's Furnace was added on September.
It's something like:
"When it's getting hot, do not forget GW"
When it's getting cold, come back to GW".

The zaishen stuff was actually added on 4th anniversary I believe. So as much as we can't expect something like that we can but dream...

Awww, this poor thread. I seem to remember last year's anniversary (with all it's content) inspiring several threads for weeks. And this thread has already died.
It's depressing looking back on the last few anniversaries compared to this one....
